The Hispanic Latino Commission (HLCOM) announced they are now accepting applications for the 2020-2021 Future Leaders Scholarship program. HLCOM is offering $35,000 in scholarships to higher-education students of Hispanic/Latino descent currently enrolled in a Michigan-based college, university or other recognized higher education institutions.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for our Commission to support Hispanic students as they continue on their journey to complete their educational goals,” said HLCOM Executive Director Felipe Lopez Sustaita. “The scholarship program is a true testament to our ongoing dedication and support to help Hispanic Michiganders increase their educational attainment, achieve economic stability and promote growth for Hispanics in our communities.”

Students interested in applying will need to fill out an online form. Selection is based on the applicant’s academic performance, community service and demonstrated financial need.
The application deadline is no later than Sunday, Oct. 4, and awardees will be notified by Saturday, Oct. 10.
HLCOM strives to market the state's career development services to Michigan Hispanics, encourage initiatives to reduce the high school dropout rates of Hispanic youth, and facilitate efforts to increase the enrollment of Hispanics in postsecondary education and training programs.
