CLS Celebrates: Four Authors
February 6, 2025
MSU Chicano/Latino Studies is celebrating the successes of our students, faculty, alumni and staff in a new series "CLS Celebrates." Our first celebration is for three alumnae and a current PhD student who have authored a chapter on Midwest Tejanes.
Amanda Flores, HALE PhD and CLS graduate certificate alumna; Dianey Leal, Dual Major PhD in HALE and CLS; Angelica Ruvalcaba, Dual Major PhD in Sociology and PhD; and Erika Vallejo, Political Science PhD and CLS graduate certificate have come together to publish a chapter in the book Somos Tejanes: Chicano Identity and Culture in Texas.
Their chapter is titled Midwest Tejanes: Navigating entre Mundos Juntas.
"We reflect on our decisions to go to graduate school, choosing to go to graduate school in Michigan, and navigating the doctoral experience," Dr. Flores wrote.
The book is published by the University of Texas Press and edited by Jody A. Marin and Norma E. Cantu. It is available here:https://utpress.utexas.edu/9781477330609/
We are so proud of you all!
