We welcome you to be among the first to experience readings of five new mini plays written by the 2022-23 Transforming MSU Playwriting Fellows. These short plays will have a continued life as a part of Transforming Theatre Ensemble's repertoire and be performed in the context of hybrid performance-workshops offered by IDI for students, faculty, staff and administrators at MSU.

Santiago – a young Latino – engages in a quiet internal struggle to navigate the social systems of machismo and violence which he daily confronts. Set in the evening at a tranquil public park, this is a play that powerfully speaks through its silences and asks, “what is a hard and soft manhood?” while touching on the larger human experiences of isolation and gender socialization.
