I am Alive! With Dr. Clelia O. Rodríguez

Fri, December 11, 2020 3:00 PM at Zoom

Graduate students and early career faculty are invited for an engaging and uplifting workshop with Dr. Clelia O. Rodríguez. Dr. Clelia O. Rodríguez is a woman of color and an educator, born and raised in Chalatenango, El Salvador. She is the author of Decolonizing Academia: Poverty, Oppression and Pain. In Decolonizing Academia, Rodríguez passes the torch to her Latinx offspring to use as a tool to not only survive academic spaces but also dismantle systems of oppression. Through personal anecdotes, creative non-fiction and unflinching bravery, Rodríguez reveals how people of color are ignored, erased and consumed in the name of research and tenured academic positions. Her work is a survival guide for people of color entering academia.

This program is sponsored by the Michigan State University Graduate School and the Chicano/Latino Studies program. The program will be on Friday December 11, from 3:00-6:00 PM. Registration is required, you may register here: https://bit.ly/2HGcSe3.
